Well, looks like we'll have to keep our winter coats, mittens and hats close by for another 6 weeks! Punxsutawney Phil saw his shadow and went back in his hole. If you predicted "YES" in class on Thursday, you were right! You can read the official proclimation at Greetings From Punxsutawney. You can read more details at the Tri-City Herald.

Yea! I like winter and I love snow! Did any of you build a snowman with all of the snow we got Thursday night? I can't wait to hear about your snowy weekend!
It's amazing the different temperatures we are both having!! We have had one of our driest Januaries in years. I saw the movie Ground Hog day - I hadn't realised it was based on reality. The Ground Hog looks kinda cute. So - if he sees his shadow it will be a long winter? I thought if he saw his shadow that would mean the sun is shining and it would be an early spring. Interesting!! Still I hope you have lots more fun in the snow. Would love to see the kind of things you like doing with snow (snow men snow fights, snow huts?...) - and I'm sure the children at Manaia Kindergarten would be interested too.
Cheers
Beverly (Manaia Kindergarten)
Thanks for sharing the pictures of the groundhog! We were very curious to see just who was the cause of all this winter!
