Tub Time: Adventures in Math...

Nearly each day we spend time working with manipulative materials for math. We call it Tub Time. While we have Tub Time we move from tub to tub and work with the materials we choose. We can use the things for counting, sorting classifying and more. Sometimes Tub Time is hard for parents to imagine. Take a look at our video of our class having Tub Time...

Well I was wondering what tub time was and now I know! It looks like you have lots of interesting things to work with at tub time. We don't have tub time at Manaia Kindergarten but it looks like a great idea. Perhaps we will work on getting all our math games into tubs so we can have tub time too! Great movie. Hope you all have had a great weekend.

Dear Mrs. Blakely's Kindergarten,
Your video was really cool. It looks like you are really good at math. You have the same pattern blocks that we have! That is so cool. We have geoboards just like you! Thank you for letting us watch you think!
Love,

Its great to see everyone working as a team during tub time - It looks like there are great discussions as you count and sort. I really like the rubber bands patterns and the small wooden blocks - heaps of maths to be learnt through this kind of exploration.
