We Love Shaving Cream

We have been working hard on learning sight words, word families, numeral writing, drawing and more. It's fun to do this on paper, but it's even MORE fun to do it in shaving cream!! Take a look at how we practiced our skills (and cleaned our tables of old dried-up glue gunk at that same time!) ;-)

Do you play in shaving cream too?

I know what you mean, the scent can be almost overwhelming depending on which brand/scent we use. We stick to the "plain" kind....even so, it always smells like "dad" when we're done! (in a GOOD way!) ;-)

I actually teach a workshop to preschool teachers using shaving cream to teach skills in many different ways. Nothing better!

Hi! I just found your blog through Kindergarten Network and I'm your newest follower. Yes, my kiddos love to practice writing in shaving cream. It's a great way for them to practice & clean their tables! :) Feel free to visit my blog sometime.

Wow thanks for showing me this idea in action in the classroom! I love seeing kids actually doing an activity as opposed to just talking about it. It doesn't look half as messy as I imagined! I will definitely give this a go! :)
I'd love if you would check out my blog at
Thanks a mil!

Hi Mrs. Blakely,
I love this idea of using shaving cream! Do you find that writing in the shaving cream works better than creating the sight words with play dough? Also, do you have any issues with students wanting to simply play with the shaving cream rather than write their sight words.
Thanks in advance!

Dear Mrs. Blakely,
I love this shaving cream idea! Have you ever come across a student who does not want to write in the shaving cream? I have had a student before that did not want to get "messy." If so, how did you handle that situation?
Thanks in advance!
