George and Abe

A few weeks ago we learned about Abraham Lincoln and George Washington. We LOVE learning new things. We read some books, watched a few short videos and saw several pictures of them. We had fun drawing portraits of both Mr. Washington and Mr. Lincoln and placed them in the hallway outside of our classroom for everyone in our school to see. We also got to write about these two famous men. Some of us read our writing to the class. Now we can share with the world!!

A New Way to Share Books...

We Know About An Octopus...

We are finishing up the school year, but we still have plenty to share. After seeing movies, reading books and even getting to touch a real octopus, we were ready to write about an octopus. Take a look at what some of our classmates wrote:

Numeral Writing 1-5...

We have been working on learning to write numerals. We practiced writing numerals in the air, on our hands, and on the backs of our friends. That was funny! We also practiced writing numerals on whiteboards. We have a fun game we play called "Numeral Dice Toss". We are getting quite good at these numerals.

Writing in Kindergarten...

We are becoming such good writers. We are learning to use what we know about letters and sounds to help us write. At this point, our goal is not to spell every, single, word correctly. It is to get our ideas down on paper. To some, our writing may be hard to read. When you read our writing you may find it helpful to think of "Vanity Plates" on cars. Not every letter is included, but you can begin to make out the words. We also know our pictures need to match our words. We are also learning that good writers add details to their work.
